Fossil Butte National Monumnet
Fossil Butte National Monument was established in 1972. It protects one of the world's richest fossil sites, preserving a 50-million-year-old subtropical lake bed known as Fossil Lake. Located 15 miles west of Kemmerer, it features impeccably preserved freshwater fish, plants, and insects from the Eocene Epoch, attracting paleontologists and tourists to its visitor center, hiking trails, and summer quarry programs.

Hamsfork Museum
The Hamsfork Museum shares the history, traditions, and stories of Kemmerer and Diamondville. Exhibits include fossils from nearly fifty-two-million-years ago including a sixteen-foot crocodile. Discover the mining shaft where you can see the blackened faces of the miners, hear the striking of their tools and imagine their exhausted sighs at the conclusion of a hard dayโs work. Other exhibits include a moonshining still, an Italian wine press, stagecoach and mountain man displays. The two-headed calf, two-bodied lamb and the exhibit of the manโs clothing who was struck by lightning are fascinating. A display honoring James Cash Penney, founder of J.C. Penneyโs and other important figures can also be found. The Hamsfork Museum focuses on the local Kemmerer/Diamondville history including: the founders, ranching and agricultural history and early Kemmerer businesses, fossil industry, and oil, gas, nuclear and railroad industries.

Fossil Island Golf Club
